From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with deep backstory, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers growing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for Episode 3 of Campaign 4 lie ahead.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of adventurers who will separate from the primary party to begin their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team features the determined fighter (brought to life by Travis), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), the cleric (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Considering an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that having everyone at one table would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of this story serve as an Introduction, weaving together the characters’ stories before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Questers.
What Defines the Soldiers Table
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might seem unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment demonstrate why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the team has a clear idea where to head next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death initiated the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his personal gain, entering the secret base, attacking the character, and stealing all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart Dol-Makjar:
- Thimble, as the companion and trusted friend, wants revenge.
- The adventurer is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could assist the party reach areas they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him anywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the rulers that govern the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and The healer betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.
This means them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight players to round up the Questers and Strategists groups.
Fans can look forward to learning which adventurers will be where in the season’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on next week.
