Barcelona Set to Play Inaugural Match at Renovated Camp Nou on Saturday
Barça revealed their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Basque side in the Spanish league over two years following their departure for construction to commence.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity but 45,401 spectators can be present as per the current authorization. Once fully finished, the Camp Nou is due to hold close to 105,000 fans, up from the previous 99,000. The club said completed upgrades featured a new players’ tunnel along with upgraded changing facilities.
Preparatory Events
The club conducted a fan-accessible workout on the home pitch on 7 November. The club said they were hoping for permission by UEFA for their upcoming Champions League fixture against Eintracht Frankfurt next month at Camp Nou. Previous fixtures took place at the Olympic Stadium.
